I Can't Take it Anymore!

September 27, 2006 / by steeve

This morning the report is out that football player Terrell Owens tried to commit suicide by overdosing on pain medication.

The guy who for such a long time has been obnoxious to all of us now has finally become obnoxious even to himself! Apparently he has looked into the mirror and seen what we see: a loud-mouthed, egoistic, extremely over-compensated individual who is, in truth, a jerk. Since he has always thought that he was a big deal (why not... he's all the sportscasters can talk about since he single-handedly screwed the Philadelphia Eagles season last year), something must've happened to give this zero a rush of reality. His recently broken hand? Bill Parcells not too politely remind him that football is a team sport? Three straight days without his name in a headline somewhere? The poor SOB...

I guess there's just not enough money anymore to assauge the huge egos and tiny brains of these idiot athletes. If all football, baseball and basketball players had to have their salaries cut to 10% of what they now make, they'd still make more than the rest of us AND we'd have gone a long way to curing the inflation problem. Maybe then you could get into a ballgame for under $75... and eat a hotdog for less that $5. Oh, where are the '50s when you need them???

And he could have been a hero--greatness lost.

He's too self-absorbed to be any kind of a hero to anyone but himself.

I would have to see his history, has he been on anti depressants? of course if he was mixing uppers and downers, well, we know what that can do... he needs a good evaluation done, don't you think?

As expected, he's into denial now... it's all a big misunderstanding. I can't tell you how often I heard that excuse over the years. But I agree with you. If they (his team, the Cowboys) don't get him some help, they're irresponsible.

ya know, I bet they will... not for the "right" reasons but because they have so much $$ invested in him... that's a shame.

I only read the sports page because our local newspaper has no police blotter. So, this event is really the first I had heard of this guy. From the description of his past behavior and some of his qoutes, he sounds to me like a person with 'borderline personality disorder." If he were not good at playing football, he would be out in the world ruining relationships, sponging off relatives and /or the government, passing bad checks, etc. You probably saw a slew of these people before you in court. Very little can be done in terms of therapy because their behavior is often an effective tool to get what they want (attention, money, excused from work and other responsibilities.)

    You've pegged him accurately.
